I'm actually really proud of my dad, he has enough money that he doesn't need to work but he's decided to go & work for the ambulance service, I'm proud of him because he didn't have to do this, it's not an easy job, the pay is crap but he wants to help our emergency services!

In Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon negotiated with nursing unions and agreed a pay rise to avoid strike action. The pay rise will be paid for using a modest increase in tax on Scotland's top earners.
Sunak should take note. Negotiations are not impossible. Pay rises are not impossible. Tax rises are not impossible.

Impossible is eating the sun. Everything else is a political choice.

In the U.K., Nurses are asking for a 19% pay increase. This only sounds unreasonably high until you break it down.

14% is the cost of living increase, as evidenced by the Retail Price Index.

5% is the real terms pay cut nurses have suffered over 12 years of tory government.

All the nurses are asking for is their real terms wages to be restored to 2010 levels, the same as it was before the tories came to power.
