Re Disengaging: In the #Nyingma tradition it is perfectly normal (and of equal status) to be a householder practitioner, and it is said that many householders achieve full awakening.
Under #Dzogchen the disengagement is more mental than physical, one trains to be not captivated by the sensory world, whilst still operating in it.
Of course, periods of meditational retreat are extremely helpful (essential?) in gaining that ability to be actively detached.

Understanding the truth and practice of the four noble truths and the eightfold path is the first step within the path of Buddhism towards personal and world wide freedom.
Will we ever see a world without suffering? I don’t know the correct answer, but I sure dream the possibility of a word where there is no one without out basic shelter, food, medicine, education or feeling lonely/abandoned. And I know I am not the only one.
