Just went to #Service #Ontario to renew my drivers license and #OHIP card. In/out in 35 minutes; including drive to and from work, an hour. Not bad; Im not pumping DoFO's tires here (they're still asshats), this is the result of decades of computerization and process improvements no doubt.
But remember the bad old times when you had to book off a whole morning or afternoon to do this crap? (yeah, can do online, but there was some reason I couldn't do my OHIP card online).
A 9.45 appointment to see a dermatologist. I don't get to see the doc until almost an hour after that. The waiting room is packed and there is a sign at reception that says waits can be up to an hour, so this must be a frequent occurrence. Seriously why are they allowed to abuse patients like this? #OHIP pays them per treatment, perhaps it should also fine them for wasting other peoples time.

He didn't think that if he said yes, people would burst from the backroom with scalpels or anything, but he was envisioning receiving an email from the health ministry like "KIDNEY TYPE O+ NEEDED: YOU HAVE *TWO* CMON FREE ICE CREAM", or being chosen at random.
Mental note in a few years: warn him not to leave his drink unattended in Tijuana*

So I'm at the #ServiceOntario #today with the PT (petulant/precocious teenager) getting his provincial health card renewed. The wonderful lady says "Well, now that you're 16, I have to ask you whether you'd like to be a organ donor?"
I knew there would be a pause (its a hefty decision), but it stretched further than anticipated, until I realized: "no no" I said, "she means when or if you DIE accidentally". We all laughed (him with relief) and he said yes.
