If fisher is the owner no city should want the A’s. Convince him to sell, and put an expansion team in Vegas. Oakland and the Bay Area can easily support a good team with some good marketing and management. MLB is mishandling this badly.

Found in "Vegas stadium deal stalls in Legislature", #SFChronicle today. The Nevada legislature failed to vote on a bill that would allocate "up to $380 million in public funds" for a new stadium in Las Vegas for the current Oakland A's. The deal is far from dead. The governor could call a special session to take up the bill.

Corporate Welfare highlights:
- $180 million tax credits from the state.
- $120 million bonds issued by the county.
- $25 million in infrastructure costs paid by the county.
- Ballpark site exempt from property taxes for 30 years.

What billionaire owners are doing to the Oakland A’s is a microcosm of what the 1% is doing to Planet Earth and I think that’s why it’s gotten under my skin like it has. Oakland doesn’t deserve this. The Coliseum doesn’t deserve this. The team, the players, the fans, none of us deserve this. Yet somehow it’s all our fault? Nope. Those empty seats really are by design. I want #Oakland to claim complete ownership of the Coliseum using eminent domain, rescue it from these assholes, and create a community ballpark and living museum. I can’t wait for the Vegas deal to fall through bc I’m having Laney College deja vu. I’d like Fisher and Kaval to come crawling back to the East Bay crying bc Nevada won’t give them millions in public money. And then I’d like them to be forced to sell the team to a local entity that actually gives a fuck.
