When I got rid of #Evernote, I tried both #Joplin and #Obsidian.

Joplin worked easily for notes exported from Evernote but not PDFs.

Obsidian is awesome for all my PDFs in subfolders.

But now I have notes and PDFs on the same topic in different places. I really dislike Joplin renaming files and the messy storage. But when I move some notes over to Obsidian, those with photos are broken. Hmm.

@pavelzinoviev @smallcircles @obsidian pretty shure that #Obsidian was only forced to do a 'cease-and-decist' - or rather "plz rename" - style reply due to the way trademarks are being applied.

It's good to see that being handled pretty amicably and chill...

Makes me if not consider Obsidian myself, at least keep them in mind as option for others that may want something like it.

@nelsonshine I just learned Obsidian published an official plugin last month called Importer. Which converts notes from different formats to Markdown.

First conversion format they created was .enex for Evernote.

Both #Obsidian and #Joplin are broken :P MarkDown is a bloody scourge of not-quite-right, just-a-bit-more-compelx-than-necessary markup. It's like the JSON of plain-text formats :P

Just used #obsidian for the first time on my masters coursework tonight. My God. It saved me at least an hour (on an assignment that took me about an hour to complete) and I have good notes in place if I need to revisit this assignment later in the semester.

I wish so badly I'd discovered this thing years ago.

@punktrock Recently I started using this flexible note-taking app called #Obsidian which has a thriving plugins community. Some of the plugins let you turn Obsidian into a pretty decent task management app which works great for me cause I regularly open my notes app unlike other task management apps ^_^;

Previously I used #AmazingMarvin which while it's a subscription, it is mind-bogglingly customizable, it has so many built-in strategies to try and combine, so it could be worth giving a trial!

Bleh I really like #obsidian, IDK why it took me so long to install and play with it.

Now back at school in pre-planning, and I'm so glad I'm bringing #obsidian with me. I've already been using it a bunch over the summer, but I can tell it's going to be a huge help to my scatterbrained self as the year gets going.
