1150 followers · 2105 posts · Server mstdn.social4/ My sources of #weather forecast on the #coastal #ocean: Willyweather (hourly wind direction/speed +…) along with other sources, especially when #sailing on extended transects--1) The NWS Marine Forecast is especially useful as it predicts sea conditions (wave height) and gives a description of building or declining conditions, plus fog. 2) Live-stream local data to help "ground" the predictions: NOAA buoy data (always) and maps of radar images and lightning strikes (inclement weather). #storm

1/ #Storm at the #beach! Went to the #ocean on #CapeCod, MA yesterday to first relax, then go open ocean #swimming for fun and #exercise. Watched this ominous storm move by us for a couple of hours. Before the #swim, the wind began shifting dramatically (bringing the rain clouds toward us). As the #fog rolled in and darkness fell, I relaxed on this wonderful #beach and enjoyed one of the last few warm summer evenings by the #ocean here in #NewEngland. However, we also detect a possible weakening of this uptake, since the accumulation of anthropogenic CO2 during the second decade was not as large as expected from the increase in atmospheric CO2. Our findings suggest that the ocean sink for CO2 might further shrink as climate change progresses."
