RT @ECHO_Asia: When typhoon Rai struck the Philippines, desperate villagers could only take refuge inside resistant buildings, like schools. βI was so afraid,β Elma Ravelo said. βPalm trees snapped, water was rushing and the winds blew everything away.β π·π https://medium.com/protection-and-aid/life-after-the-storm-villagers-in-the-southern-philippines-picking-up-the-pieces-of-their-former-1770f0aec9e2 #OdettePH

Our power at home was apparently restored yesterday (the 8th day without power following #typhoon #OdettePH (#Rai).
So today we'll pack up and return home from the resort that's been home for several days.
Luckily we have plenty of dry and canned goods at home, because it seems the shops are shut today.
Tomorrow will be a major grocery run since we had to discard the entire fridge & freezer contents.
In light of the aftermath of #OdettePH (aka Rai), #heigit is reminding the community of #openstreetmap data users in the Philippines that their #OpenRoute instance for disaster management services updates every 10 minutes and available at https://disaster.openrouteservice.org

Finally made it back from #Siquijor to #Negros following #typhoon #OdettePH.
Still no power at home but fiber internet is working and mobile signal has just come back too.
But we're safe and well, so is our home helper, her daughter, and our dog, and our house.
Considering the typhoon's strength, things could have been much worse.

Well this is fun.
On Monday we took the ferry to #Siquijor to help friends move house. Now we're stranded because #typhoon #OdettePH is coming and the boats are cancelled.
Luckily our dogsitter can stay at our house an extra couple of days.
Also luckily we found a resort with (a) rooms, (b) passable wifi and (c) a leeeetle bit of mobile signal, all of which are pretty rare on Siquijor.
So we're holing up until the rain stops and keeping in touch with the ferry companies.
