January on Ol Pejeta sees clear days, blue skies and picture-perfect African sunsets. Rains can be expected towards the end of the month, but it is a great time to visit and see migratory birds as well as new-borns.

a quick game drive at #OlPejeta conservancy was very rewarding - no time for birds or inverts unfortunately #Lion #lionesses #rhino #elephant #biodiversity#cop15 #RhinoConservation #africa #kenya

Arrived in Nanyuki early so squeezed in a quick game drive at #OlPejeta conservancy & saw the last 2 northern white rhino on the planet - both females so species is functionally extinct - a privilege but also quite depressing. Great to see so many leopard sightings on the conservancy and as the short rains trigger the birthing season for many antelope species, we can expect more and more predators to move into the area.

This is Baraka, blind black rhino in #OlPejeta, he is 27 years old.
White and black rhinos are actually the same colour, which is grey. Black rhinos are smaller than white, black rhinos are browsers and white rhinos are grazers, this means you will find white #rhinos in the open field grazing grasses while black rhinos in the bush browsing leaves of plants.
Southern white rhinos in #OlPejeta white rhinos are grazers unlike black rhinos who are browsers. so white rhinos are found in open field.
