Apparently the word for a group of words in old English, was 'word hoard'. That's delightful. I can imagine an imp sitting on their hoard of words, guarding them carefully!

"By Bede’s account Cuthbert was a powerfully charismatic holy man, a preacher, healer and exorcist. But there are moments, even in this hagiography, when it becomes clear how draining he found dealing with people."

I may have some spare time and brain cells this September, and wondered if there are any online courses in a #Latin, #OldEnglish, or another language I could take?
Credit is not necessary, but tests and/or homework would be nice.
I should be reading term papers but got sidetracked by this excellent collection: #OldEnglish #medieval #IAmReading https://openresearchlibrary.org/content/95caefb9-0373-48df-ba10-670889cb6375

I've reviewed Noc Solheim-Davidson's beautiful translation of the Old English Rune Poems, with the addition of the Northumbrian Runes. It's a wonderful translation I highly recommend. Please read my full review on my blog, linked below.

Are you ready for it . . .?
Coming this summer, the OEPoetryFacsimile.org team is taking on the second longest poem in the Old English corpus:
/Genesis A & B/ -- all 2900+ lines of it.
We'll have it all wrapped up by August.
So stay tuned . . . and watched this space for more.

Could any scholars of Old English recommend a translation of The Wanderer from the Exeter Book ?
Grateful for any boosts.

Hello, everyone! I've been on a massive Mastodon instance for years, but I finally decided to join my people over here. So it's time for a new introduction.
I'm in the middle of my master's in English Language and Literature program. My literary tastes are truly wide, which is making it a challenge to narrow my scope for a thesis project next year.
In the meantime, I'm studying #poetry, #OldEnglish, #BookReviews, #LiteraryCriticism, and anything that strikes my fancy.
