The EU's official watchdog has opened an inquiry into the role of its Frontex border agency in a shipwreck off Greece in which hundreds of people died.

EU Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly said she wants her investigation to make clear to the public "who is accountable for these deaths" as Frontex has unclear jurisdiction and limited authority over member states such as Greece when it comes to addressing the needs of those in distress at sea.

#Ukraine was able to return 128 children who were forcibly taken to Russia

According to Yulia Usenko, head of the Office for the Protection of Children's Interests, "the tools of #diplomacy do not work, the requirements of international humanitarian law do not apply to the aggressor, therefore there is no single mechanism, model rules do not work."
According to #Ombudsman Daria Gerasimchuk, as of October 2022, at least 8,709 children were forcibly taken to #Russia. (United24Media)

I'd suggest that 15 minute visits are not only rarely enough time to complete the required task(s) but in some instances could prove dangerous. For example, someone with difficulties eating could aspirate food if rushed and end up with pneumonia.

Nederland heeft enorm veel regelingen waarmee mensen met weinig inkomen een aanvulling kunnen krijgen. Eén daarvan is de #bijstand, maar is die wel effectief?
De gemeente moet vaak extra middelen inzetten om bijstandsfraude te voorkomen, dat lijkt een beetje het paard achter de wagen spannen.
De #Ombudsman concludeert dat #jongeren met een bijstand het vaak niet alleen redden.
