Had a fab day in London today. My bus didn’t come so I looked for an alternative route to London Metropolitan Archives, and it took me past the former home of one of my Willsman #OneNameStudy families who I was researching just a few days ago!
@prenticenet a friend of mine (Dianne Bartlam) was doing a #OneNameStudy of the Prentice surname, I will send her your website
It's taken me far too long to get around to doing this, but I've finally completed a #OnePlaceStudy registration form on the @SocOnePlaceStudies website for my #HouseHistory of Marton Hall in the #Shropshire parish of #Myddle! There's so much more for me to discover about this house and occupants, in a project which has developed from my Atcherley #OneNameStudy / #SurnameStudy.

My sister goes to a friend's house for Thanksgiving, and discovers her friend has a great-grandfather whose last name was Koonce! I've already figured out they are not related, but I am now searching to see if I can connect her friend to my Koonce One-Name Study! How cool! #genealogy #geneadon #onenamestudy #GuildONS

Another item from the #AtcherleyArchive, this time an award presented by the British #RedCross Society to Mary Elizabeth Hope Atcherley. Hope, as she was usually known, was active with the BRCS during (and in the run up to) both #WW1 (along with her sister Hester) and #WW2. For more info, see Hope and Hester Atcherley’s World War Two: http://www.atcherley.org.uk/wp/hope-and-hester-atcherleys-world-war-two/ #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #Geneadons #OneNameStudy

The smallest item in the #AtcherleyArchive - my collection of documents, photographs and other items relating to the Atcherley family - is this American pin or badge. It dates from the early 1930s, when the British pilot it features - Richard, a.k.a. 'Batchy' Atcherley - took part in the National Air Races and wowed the crowds with his 'crazy flying'. Check out "A day at the air races": http://www.atcherley.org.uk/wp/a-day-at-the-air-races-part-1/ #FamilyHistory #OneNameStudy #Geneadons

I haven't done much with my Atcherley #OneNameStudy for a while, but my Atcherley #FamilyHistory site has over 230 articles and lots of pages of data relating to this fascinating family. Perhaps the best 'way in' is via the Topic Index page http://www.atcherley.org.uk/wp/index/topic-index/
Looking forward to finding and following #genealogy / #OneNameStudy / #OnePlaceStudy / #LocalHistory people here! In addition to my own family tree I pursue the Atcherley one-name / surname study, and #OnePlaceStudies of Waters Upton in #Shropshire and #Fawsley in #Northamptonshire (pictured).

I'm Liz, researching my own #FamilyHistory, the Temple Lodge Home for Inebriate Women (in Torquay, Devon), #OnePlaceStudy of #Dunster, & #OneNameStudy of Willsman/Welsman/Wilsman/Wellsman and Denman. I enjoy #OnePlaceStudies because they are a fascinating combination of #genealogy & #LocalHistory.
