@karlauerbach @sam Yikes.
Also I see the core issue in #ICANN as QAFO (Quasi Autonomous [U.S.] Federal Organization) and it both being U.S. - centric and not accountable.
I think letting them operate the DNS Rootzone was a mistake and I do prefer alternate Rootzones like #OpenNIC...
@april personally, I prefer #OpenNIC anyway and the sheer fact that some idiot at #ICANN thought it's a good idea to allow gTLDs like file extensions is only kept by the absurdity of .gov, .edu & .mil being U.S. - centric if not exclusive...
What's next? .org becomes exclusive to US non-profits?
Cuz they did that with .edu!
@chbmeyer @kuketzblog #Funfact: Das Funktioniert nur bei #TechIlliterate|n Richtern in #Hamburg und in #Deutschland...

This #Android private DNS (DNS over TLS) guide became handy today as I was not able to use DuckDuckGo after a switch to CarbonROM recently (clean install).

So if anyone has problem accessing DuckDuckGo or in general blocking of other domains, use encrypted DNS (DOH or DOT).
Most guides on the net mention #cloudflare, but our guide focus on Open NIC project, a community run DNS server network and decentralized.

@dpreacher
Yeah I could not get any open nic listed ones working. I think Android has DoT not DoH. I got quad9 working as well. So only cloudflare and quad9 are options. Has anyone in #fediverse got #opennic working with Android Private DNS option?
@aral It's not clear to me why #OpenNIC should get #EU monopoly amongst the few dozen (or hundreds) altroots? Also not clear how you imagine "mandatory" and where. But you probably sense in my questions that I find this approach not just futile but extremely counterproductive, too.
Generally it's not wise to pick and support one service amongst of hundreds, it's called "unfair business preference".
