Installing #GarudaLinux for its preconfigured #linux #kernel, chiefly to avoid the hassle of setting up #udevrules with #OpenRGB. A nice bonus is the #zenkernel for additional performance, and the easy GUIs for a straightforward OS. #snapper utilizing the powerful #btrfs is a nice feature too. Overall it's a great OS and will keep me around for a while, until I'm inflicted with the inevitable urge to #distrohop again.

These new addressable RGB strips have been sat on my desk for a while. Finally got around to putting them in the PC. (Also, the strips that were in there were starting to fail, frustratingly...they might be repairable, though, and they can go in another rig.)

I still need to install #OpenRGB, krunner isn't bound to alt-f2 anymore, I'd like meta to open the launch menu, and something isn't happy on the USB and is spamming the console. I think oh-my-zsh upgraded about 5 years, so I need to revisit my config there which it seems to have wiped in the upgrade process. 🤔 Oh, and I need to fuck with /etc/fstab to get it to auto-mount my disks so I don't get a prompt for password on startup.

Anyone looking to try the #OpenRGB #SteamDeck mod I posted last week, please refrain for now. The 5V supply that powers the integrated controller PCB can be damaged by pulling extra current, and we tapped the 5V off of the controller for the lighting. I managed to get my Deck into a usable state after the power to the controller died, but it no longer switches off the controller in standby.

Got the LED strips arranged for my #SteamDeck #OpenRGB mod! I had issues with the microcontroller of choice tonight, but I'm getting some other boards in the mail tomorrow that hopefully will work!

#JSAUX sent me their new #SteamDeck clear back cover. They contacted me and said it was in the mail. I had previously discussed support for their upcoming RGB dock in #OpenRGB so look what they put on the back!

Finally, more progress to share on the #PinePhone #OpenRGB keyboard project. My 2-part #3dprinting keycap design pieces now fit together very snugly, making assembly very repeatable. Still have to do some sanding on the clear parts but not bad.

Instead of doing #proprietary #SingleVendor / #SingleProvider bs, manufactturers should just donate #specs and money to #OpenRGB cuz they seem to make the least shitty option...
