last night i had the honor of talking about #OpenSOC with @eric_capuano at SANS Secure Singapore.

as many of you know, it's been a labor of love for us for a long time, roughly 5 years now. eric started it a year or 2 before that in a previous role, and we grew it into what it is today, largely because of the impact it has had on participants worldwide and the absolute excitement that brings us.

so it was a pleasure to open the curtains a bit to the lessons learned, wins and war stories, tips and tools, etc, to a piece of the community.

what a wild ride it has been.

Insane just how delicate some systems are.

The hardware that powers #OpenSOC took a nasty spill during a recent power outage causing multiple hardware repairs/replacements to be done... Unfortunately, the UPS battery had failed silently.

Despite the hardware failures, the hypervisor internals took an even nastier hit. If it wasn't for @shortstack's ability to wield devops black magic, I hate to say that #OpenSOC would've been declared dead this year 😬​

Cheers to the chaos panda, whose secret superpower keep all of our shit running...we'd be lost without her 🌈​
