@raniz @jwarlander I don't think I was clear. I just meant that it hits the API directly. #OpenSearch already has a pretty robust API that the client is hitting. And the user must first put credentials into their environment through the use of a .env file for the client to use, otherwise service is rejected.

More details:

Files are indexed by repo name, branch name, file name, and file contents. Any of the four fields can be queried by regular expression using specific flags, or by #OpenSearch-style #SQL.

I'm hoping to be able to open-source the project eventually, I just need to convince my boss.

This has been the largest project I've done in #rustlang and is the most useful and functional project I've ever done. It provides my company a powerful tool to gain insight into our code base!

I do boring things for work as part of my specific responsibilities. But I'm also given flexibility in my schedule, and have been given the green light to do a side project which I use to fill my spare time and keep my fun meter full.

This project is a #cli tool written in #rustlang which pulls all repos of an organization using ghorg (not mine), indexes them using #OpenSearch, and makes them queryable using a client program.

Opensearch is just a FOSS fork of elastic search, led by AWS and community.

It is actually free to use.

if you use AWS Elastic/OpenSearch, it is actually powered by Opensearch.

I don't think there is the search service existing which is not self managed at the same time it is cheap or free.

#OpenSearch Serverless... I don't know.. I think it might be time to redefine or at least "diversify" the term #serverless. The implication of "no idle cost" as it once was certainly isn't there any more.

For the sake of my #MentalHealth I try not to do actual work related things on the weekend unless I'm learning something that I'm interested in.

Spending this weekend trying to build an AWS #OpenSearch demo to capture Cisco switch logs and do some anomaly detection. Hoping to get it done before the NASCAR race but for sure before the Chiefs game tonight.

OK. It takes a considerable amount of time to deploy/delete an #OpenSearch cluster. I think I can get a 5k in on the treadmill between deployments. That is if I'd ever do a 5k on a treadmill.
