National Night Out (coming up this August 1) is definitely a police event, though rarely presented as one.

It is one of the shames of #Minneapolis that this copaganda event is allegedly better attended here than anywhere else.

The "block captain" is likely the host this (the police used to advertise "a free street permit for your National Night Out party" when recruiting "block leaders", in addition to "priority seating at our Citizens Academy and Rental Property Workshops" 🤮 ).

Open Streets events meanwhile have a disgustingly heavy police presence, but what is the tie in with block captains?

In short #NationalNightOut is community #infiltration by #police AND there should not be #cops at #OpenStreets any more than at pride, but https://www.openstreetsmpls.org is not in itself a police-organized nor block captain organized event, right?

A neighbor who is against the W103rd open street has inadvertently publicised the NYC DOT Car Share program by telling us there is a vehicle in an assigned spot at 99th and Riverside Drive and that DOT is getting $475 for the spot. $475 is much more than $0.

Key findings:
1. Open Streets perform MUCH better in sales growth, new #startups, keeping #business open
2. #Sales grew 19% over pre-pandemic baseline. In control streets sales dropped 29%
3. More Open Street business stayed open
4. New #startups grew 10%. Control streets in same boroughs saw 20% closures
