My project #Optiplex 9010 is coming together. Already replaced the #firmware with the #dasharo #coreboot implementation by #3mdeb. My #xeon e3-1230v2 showed up this morning and is installed and running, and I scrounged another 8GB of RAM to tide me over until I can order a full set of 32GB. I've got a full height #quadro k2000 sticking out of the case until my GPU arrives. In the meantime, it's time for a little benchmark and burn in.

Got #dasharo running on an #Optiplex 9010 motherboard. Super easy. Gonna need to up the CPU and RAM for #Qubes, though (currently i3/8GB).

It's so gratifying watching my parents use the #Linux computer I set up for them. I got a Dell #Optiplex tower, threw an SSD and more RAM in it (walked my dad through the upgrades) and installed Elementary OS. For their web and email heavy workflow Linux is a great fit, they are enjoying it as much as the iMac that it replaced. They have problems with jank from time to time but we always figure it out without too much trouble.

For those asking, at long last, all my current systems are racked up and running. To be truthful, the rack was originally a Frito Lay potato chip display that I snagged from the dumpster behind a local grocery store. Reuse, recycle, etc.

Up top is my Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook with my My Dell 9010 and 3010 Optiplexes just underneath. The Optiplexes are connected with a KVM switch feeding to my desk.

My new 16GB of RAM arrived, so I now have maxed out my Dell Optiplex 9010 with 32GB. This is almost as exciting as when I installed the WD SSD.

These older PCs are absolute workhorses with Debian GNU/Linux installed.

As always, it is the simple pleasures in life that are the most enjoyable.

@axeleroy #TrueNas is great. I have it running a #Dell #Optiplex 3040. The disks are kinda in a tight fit though.

Pictured are the specs for my current workstation. I haven't upgraded because I haven't had to, as this does pretty much what I'd like it to do.

Thinking about playing around with some HP Z series workstations, as I have a few in "my collection".

I have a Z400 and maybe a few others. I plan on experimenting with using #Intel #xeon processors in business class desktops, like the Dell #Optiplex and HP #EliteDesk, too.

I have a few Core 2 Quad era Dell Precision and HP workstations.

So many computers, so little time!
