I went out to Three Cliffs Bay last night - the high altitude clouds and the low level mist in the distance made very interesting conditions. Above the bay is Orion's Belt and the brighter stars are Sirius, Aldebaran, Betelgeuse and there is also Mars! The green is a natural phenomenon called airglow.

This is Oxwich Bay at night. Orion's Belt is in the middle, Sirius to the bottom left of Orion and Mars to the top right. The green in the sky is airglow and there is a hint of the Milky Way running diagonally across the photo.

I took a starlit walk from Rhossili to Fall Bay - totally different in the dark! This is Fall Bay under a winter night sky. In the middle is Orion's Belt. Sirius is the lowest bright star and above and to the left of Orion's Belt is Betelgeuse. On the horizon, the green 'haze' is called 'airglow' along with a touch of light pollution from Ilfracombe.

2/ normally, i adore everything related to #astronomy. at #night, taking out the day’s trash, i stop to look at the #sky, searching for familiar #planets & #stars

it tickles me 2C #OrionsBelt, #betelgeuse & #bellatrix

my favorite lights are #capella #sirius & #vega

knowing the #SpaceStation & #HubbleTelescope are beneath my feet, with the #sun, is astounding

tracking “my very” & “mother just served” (IYKYK) makes me smile

but, the #moon? how i loathe it, because of what it brings

The Orion and Taurus constellations on a clear and cold November evening.
Last night was a great opportunity to try out some settings of my new(ish) camera. Despite a lot of light pollution around my area, I’m pretty happy with the results.
