@geewiz @bagder Yup. If you really want to feel old, I have some Personal Pearl and a handful of other obscure databases for my #OsborneOne.
@RL_Dane @vwbusguy@pixelfed.social Rendered on a 32" LCD monitor, no less. Wish I still had a CRT at home (very much not counting the #OsborneOne's 3" monochrome screen).
OK, so it's not just me. Transferring over serial via PIP on #OsborneOne is a big pain. My issue is that when I send ^z from my Linux machine, pip doesn't seem to get the memo (and that's including sending the CP/M ASCII byte for it). Any idea of a way to do this from #Linux?
I also just got in this Ebay score of 20 5ΒΌ" floppies for $10. These will be for my future #Commodore64 and #OsborneOne #BASIC adventures.
It has" Karen's TCP Copies" written on the box. #retrocomputing

It seems #FujiNet could essentially replicate what was done here and it would have a good starting point for working on an #OsborneOne. Being able to bring a composite out like this would be a huge bonus, too.
This is interesting. At one point a "Drive C" was sold for #OsborneOne that was a ram-disk of sorts that plugged into the IEEE-488 port *and* the video port. It looks like the video port may have been used because the "Drive C" apparently brings its own composite adapter (Osborne One didn't come with one stock).

The #OsborneOne includes an IEEE-488/GPIB port (similar to a #Commodore PET) that is basically unused on the platform. Would be very interesting to see if #Fujinet could possibly make use of it similar to how it uses the SIO port on #Atari. It seems that at least at one time, GPIB to USB adapters were also a thing.

The docs suggest that there's some kind of #FujiNet support for CP/M, but I don't see any actual devices for it. Would love to have it for the #OsborneOne.
Tonight saw another failed attempt at me getting bits from my laptop onto the #OsborneOne via serial. Getting bits from the Osborne to my laptop is no problem. Other way around, well, I just can't seem to crack the PIP magic handshake. Tonight, I tried it at 300 baud for good measure which was excruciating.
If I could learn #ed, it would make it much easier for me to write #CBASIC programs for my #OsborneOne, but... it's so weird!!!
Idea - make a little modern #OsborneOne that boots to #qbsh and has two SD card slots on either side of the screen.
(qbsh is one of my own side projects - https://qbsh.org )
I would absolutely love to have something like #FujiNet for the #OsborneOne.
For those counting, I now currently have #Zork on #Atari, Zork 2 on #Commodore64, and Zork 3 on #OsborneOne. The Atari one is the only one not on original media.

@nroach44 That's a bummer. I honestly really like the keyboard on mine. Of all my truly retro computers, it's the most practical and usable. It has a satisfying springy-chonk to it. Honestly, so much of the frustration of the #Commodore64 comes down to how the arrow keys work. The #OsborneOne keyboard wins for practical simplicity and overall tactile feel.
@jppelt EBay doesn't have any for #OsborneOne. #Commodore64 ain't cheap. They're around $40. #Apple II versions are inexpensive and plentiful, but I don't have one of those. #Atari is interesting. I have an XE but no floppy, but I have a Fujinet on the way, so I might be able to get the bits into memory via wifi and play it on the Atari soon.

@jppelt Looks like it was made for CP/M, too! I really need to track down a copy for the #OsborneOne.

This obviously won't run on the #OsborneOne, but I happen to have a complete in box #Zork 2 for my #Commodore64.

Ladder renders a wider screen than the built in monitor of the #OsborneOne is capable of rendering, it seems. Perhaps it was meant for that very rare extenal monitor they sold?
