Recent artists book I made using a rule-based process. Picked a 4-letter word for each page. Each letter carries an instruction which I carry out. Result is usually surprising and wacky. For instance, this has an interplanetary "theme" with planets, flower vases, an "alien" with baseball bat, a padlock, and a lot of asemic writing. Go figure. #mastoart #ouxpo #oupeinpo #asemic

#Oupeinpo (#rule-based art) entitled "Gross." 18x18 in, on heavy paper. The title word was picked "by chance" out of a dictionary. Each letter of the alphabet comes with an instruction for one unit of the work, e.g., "black scribbled lines," "collage," "figurative line drawing," etc. This is what the letters of the word "gross" generated. #mastoart #collage #drawing

Rule based art. Elements determined by #geomancy (which required several dice tosses). #graphite on cold wax on heavy paper. The soft, tan background was achieved by rubbing cold wax over the paper and burnishing it. The CW also "fixes" the graphite so I don't end up breathing in the stuff. #oupeinpo #rulebasedart

Small #graphite #drawing from several years ago, "Lineas de Corazon." Otherwise, I seem to be artistically blocked right now. I think it has something to do with knowing that I've got an impending freelance job coming up, which, unfortunately, contractors are way late in sending to me. I'm in limbo. Could apply a rule-based art process (#oupeinpo) which would take care of the decision making. but I dunno...

Rule-based Geomancy piece. A dice throw gave me: 1) Acquisitio (cups), 2) Puer (boy = red), 3) Rubius (red= red square), and 4) Tristitia (sorrow = diagonal line) -- Simplifications of much more complex readings. But they determine the main elements of the image. Added up they produce the final figure: Puer (not the tea!) - the name of this piece.
