'Something About Elephants' is the final story in the 'Tamika Wood's Birthday Party' series! (I am writing more stories in the same universe but this is the last one that is part of this story)
It is mostly a sequel to 'Cupboard Ghost' even though it is set after 'Dawn'.
It starts on 3 July so you still have time to read or re-read the earlier stories starting with part one of 'Tamika Wood's Birthday Party'.

If you're short on time you can probably skip 'Untitled Cello Piece' and 'Dawn' if you want to.
As always, all of my stories are available to read with either your eyes or your ears. There is a podcast feed for ear-reading people too!

The recording of Friday's conversation with author Elle McNicoll is now online. She chatted with @ferrous for about an hour about neurodiversity, representation and the power of stories, among other things. Enjoy!

@AnnemarieBridy Not if you’re an author whose work is being stolen without compensation. Thus, it’s not your place to say what someone else’s experience of abuse is like when you’re the one encouraging others to abuse them. #OwnVoices
I feel like every time I post about Untitled Cello Piece I describe it in a different way. It feels like it's about a lot of things but like the main character of the story I don't always know which things are significant and which things are context.
#OwnVoices for #ActuallyAutistic this story takes place after and in the same universe as "Tamika Wood's Birthday Party" but reading #TWBP isn't required and you can certainly start with UCP.
A #story
about being highly masked and not knowing that you're #autistic. A story about having a sibling with more obvious/higher needs and feeling neglected. A story about not knowing how to connect to yourself and as a consequence being unable to connect to others. A story about recognising individual events but not being able to process the context which makes them make sense. A story about being misunderstood and longing for a kind of friendship you think you're incapable of maintaining. Of not knowing how to change your mind or realising that you can.
Michelle Parker is 25 and hasn't seen or spoken to her family in seven years. She doesn't know who she is and doesn't know if she is even capable of achieving anything. And then suddenly she has a chance to make a difference in her life and that of other people. Or so she thinks.
It starts here https://lekendall.com/ucp/untitled-cello-piece/
There are two chapters so far (as well as the intro semi-chapter) and all six chapters are scheduled and will go live twice a week until 23 December.

I neglected to mention in my #Introduction above that I'm particularly interested in reading #OwnVoices -- please help me diversify my feed by suggesting thoughtful writers and activists from #Marginalized communities.

@EverAutistic 2 years ago when I read Helen Hoang’s book, The Bride Test.
It’s an #ActuallyAutistic romance novel with an autistic main character.
Since Helen is autistic herself, it’s an #OwnVoices book.
It describes my life
