Let me just say I am excited about some great folk being in #PDX this coming week!
Meet Peg. She is 2 years old and sheβs lived in my apartment for a week. She is sweet, hilarious, and cuddly, but totally out of control π Currently shopping for #PDX dog trainers, because Iβm tired down to my bones π #pugs #adoptedpets
π Congrats to my local neighborhood animation studio for winning Best Animated Feature Film for their production of "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio".

:covid19: By my observations, #Portland #PDX Multnomah County has finally this week dropped from Substantial to Moderate transmission levels of #COVID19, which is below the CDC's pre-2022 State Of The Union recommendations for wearing masks in indoor public spaces.
π 40.6 cases per 100k population this week, and 6% test positivity.
π€ Let's hope it stays this low, or lower. Many (most!) places still much higher.

Cool.
Just heard from someone in the #Portland #PDX Bureau of Transportation that their "transportation wallet" program for people living/working in certain neighborhoods will, starting this coming year, only be accessible via a proprietary Android/iOS app, as opposed to submitting a form and getting a physical Hop card as in years past.
Apparently if you don't have or use a smartphone and proprietary software, you're not "good enough" to use public transportation.

Intel's CEO sure is really "sharing the pain" as he cuts his own salary alongside the 5% pay cuts for workers so stockholders can get paid dividends.
He shaved a whopping 0.17% off his 2021 compensation of $178,590,400.00. π
The cynicism and inequity is sickening. Intel workers need to rise up.

βΉοΈ Hey #Portland, friendly reminder.
βοΈ If you are a property owner, a rental tenants, or a businesses, city code requires that you must clear your sidewalks and path across your driveway as soon as possible after a storm. PBOT will NOT remove snow and ice from sidewalks.
π Thank you for being a good neighbor to #PDX pedestrians!

So the mayor of #Portland is calling for relaxing involuntary commitment rules.
I am very supporting of getting people the help they need, and it is long overdue, but I feel pretty sure that (a) his impetus to take action is coming from business donors mis-attributing their sinking profits to the #mentalHealth crisis, and (b) that there is still not enough health care capacity for the amount of people in need.
