Over a month ago, I heard former #teacher #ChinonyeChukwu discussing her new #film #Till on #NPR #FreshAir. I immediately became determined to take my students on a field trip to see the #movie. Today, it happened: our school’s 120 freshman had a private screening at our local AMC. Our #PTO paid for it. The kids started out goofy, but quickly became immersed. Shocked gasps and crying. When the credits began to roll, the students burst out in applause. Incredible film and incredible day. See it!

Kind of a rant, and nothing too novel, but… I just want to reiterate what a terrible policy “combined PTO” is.

I am sick. I am not incentivized to take a full day and actually recover, because that’s my vacation time! So I work partial days remotely at greatly diminished capacity and efficiency, but I still have to use some PTO, and I stay sick longer… who is this arrangement benefiting exactly? #worklifebalance #pto

First day back after a week off and everything worked itself out by the end of the day, gotta love it. I always get anxiety after a holiday because you never know what you're going to come back to, particularly with #Slack where you're bombarded with a week's worth of unread messages/updates in channels
