Spent this morning weeding a badly overgrown corner of a small public park in a wealthier area of #PVD as a volunteer. The area is not in my neighborhood.

As I worked away alone, dozens of locals walked past on the garden path, clearly on their habitual Sunday walks.

I like weeding but wondered of our sense as citizens of who does the work and who blithely enjoys without any sense of shared responsibility. I came from two miles away to weed the parklet that its neighbors couldn’t bother to.

I’m on the infamous #PVD boondoggle bridge and tbh it’s pretty nice.

I love #PVD, but it's not lost on me that everything my brain registers as "gross" and "depressing" about the weather is context dependent.

I've never seen a forest in the rain and thought "ew." We took something that's incredible all the time and made it bearable only a fraction thereof.
