“a record that could redefine our history of the planet” should accurately read “one of many, vital records allowing scientists to unravel the history of the planet”, but the contents of the article itself, shows Francine McCarthy’s group as an (excellent!) exemplar of how paleoclimate researchers use sediment cores to infer earth’s history is super neat.

At the talks Thomas Mörs says there that exists fossil evidence of a certain species called helmeted frogs in the West Antarctic peninsula, which puts the lower bound for the coldest temperature at 3.7 degree celsius! Amazing.
