While I'm usually quite happy with the Lidl/Parkside stuff, this #Parkside PRTA 20-Li C3 strimmer was disappointing.

It worked well enough, but once the spool casing was inevitably worn out, I discovered to my great surprise that it wasn't replaceable! Crime!

I removed the motor, welded on a stopper nut, then a threaded M5 bolt to attach a regular gardening shop spool casing with the plastic stem sawn off. Easy to replace now, but why the bad original design?

Lidl / Parkside jigsaw died today, not even doing hard work.

Usually the Parkside stuff is good value for money, but sometimes they have real duds.

Here the wire connecting to the motor winding melted. Perhaps it was kinked or dented during assembly.

Once the problem was located, I scraped the lacquer off the wire, cut back the remaining insulation and soldered them back together. Then made sure it wasn't touching anything. Fixed!
