And I would suggest using either as you would in a normal sentence. e.g. #PascalCase at the start of a paragraph or a name, or #camelCase for a regular word in your sentence.
Note that even though the suggested hashtags come up as all lower-case, if you type it in using capitals then the capitals will stay there, and the hashtag will still work, though if you accept the suggestion before you finish typing the hashtag it may override it to be all lower-case, so always type it out in full.

i.e. your post won't show up in a search of a hashtag that wasn't in the original post. So if you realise there are some relevant hashtags you should add to a post, then you will actually need to make that post again from scratch in order for it to show up in searches!
In regards to #readability #accessibility you should always use #PascalCase (every word starts with a capital) or #camelCase (first word lower-case, then capitals for subsequent words). Don't use #snake_case (underscores)...

One of the finer points of making your hashtags accessible for people who use screen readers, beyond using #camelCase or #PascalCase:
If you're using an acronym as a hashtag, don't lowercase any of the letters the way you might if it was title case.
Why? A lowercase letter following an uppercase letter is treated as a word, so title casing your acronym will obfuscate your meaning for those reliant on screen readers.

I have assumed that the initial letter of #theHashtagString does not need to be capitalized. Is that correct?

Just a quick reminder from someone who's still getting the hang of this place too: remember to use #camelCase or #PascalCase in your #hashtags so screenreaders know they're not just onelongpieceofjibberish.

@dartiss oh good question! I believe #camelCase and #PascalCase are equally acceptable for screen readers.
@VinesNFluff Great question, #camelCase works just as well as #PascalCase as far as screen readers are concerned :D
@alltherum Oh yea, capital on the first word is purely stylistic choice. #camelCase works just as well as #PascalCase for screen reader legibility.
@Cassana in #programming they call that #CamelCase (or #PascalCase for the #Pedants) to describe using the first letter of each crushed-together word as an indicator that there's a word border.
They have totally different motivations to do so, but you can communicate the whole idea with like two words. :)

@murshedz I've seen some recommendations for using #PascalCase styled hashtags, it helps with accessibility for screen readers.
TIL it is called #PascalCase (I knew it was not camelCase, but I had no name for it)
@Tam5 New here, but is there a difference between #camelCase and #PascalCase for screen readers?

@azzageddi @Curator yep! its a term often used in programming, may also be called #PascalCase when referring to
#UpperCamelCase vs #lowerCamelCase I suspect both work with readers.
