@lefteye also another good reason to I object on principle to the likelihood that big retailers are building FRT databases with - in many cases - identifying people from interactions at point of sale, and then onselling their database to other retailers. Like for bars do with names, photos and identity card details.

@finngreig @JAS_Ten_Regen TBH it's not that I'm really worried about my identity being tracked etc, it's the principle of the thing. I don't think a short notice at entry is enough info. What will they do with data?

Same with at Dakota Bar where they photograph faces and credit cards, enter info into database and have no deletion or correction policy ... Consent through ignorance of isn't a great model for trust and surety of responsible custodianship of data

@Polychrome In Australia and New Zealand there's a Facial Recognition system, used by bars to record photos and names and id cards so the bars can blacklist anyone who behaves badly. The Terms and Conditions don't specifiy an end date for use of the data nor how to challenge decisions to ban them. Some people could find themselves on a banned list ten years after a student mishap.

Story about NZ Govt trialling reminds me of used by some bars in Aotearoa NZ and Australia. Theory is consent given so meet privacy principles but don't as no policies on PatronScan storage, deletion or correction. If blacklisted by one bar now, a person could still be on list 10 years later @Br3nda
