The reviewer assumes that #DungeonWorld helped #ApocalypseWorld / #PbtA to break through. #DW was already too #DnD for me back then, we enjoyed #tremlus more. As well, #FantasyWorld, another #Fantasy #PbtA #ttrpg should also follow the #DnD - tradition, but offer its own, interesting approaches. Group themes (quests vs coins etc.) , more deadly/consequential battles I find interesting, maybe another good source of ideas. #Stonetop remains my favourite #PbtA #fantasy game.

Took the small ferry from #Petkum to #Ditzum, one of my father‘s (🖤) favorite spots.
Visited Ditzum‘s #medieval (13th century) church with its light house-shaped bell tower (mid 19th century).

Famously in #ttrpg there is Combat as War. Where you are clever to avoid combat or manipulate it beforehand. There's Combat as Sport. Where you cleverly use your mechanics.

What about when you don't have to be clever at all? When we just assume characters are experts and do what is best. And we maybe roll a roll to see how well they do or maybe not at all. Combat as...?

#RPGaDAY2023 24. Complex / simple RPG?
Grundsätzlich gilt mMn: Simpel > komplex. Einige komplexe Beispiele sind
* #DSA 4 (5 kenne ich nicht genug): total kaputt und überfrachtet
* #Traveler: Die spielgewordene Tabellenkalkulation
* #Pathfinder (und auch #DnD geht in diese Richtung): man will es allen recht machen und baut die abstrusesten Charakteroptionen ein
Gute und simple RPGs
* #Dungeonslayers (One-Page Abenteuer)
* #WoD Würfelsystem (d10 Pool)
* #PbtA
* #FATE (was den Regelteil betrifft)

Und dann gehts heute an etwas Vorbereitung für Morgen. Seit 4 Monaten leite ich die #CoC Kampagne Dunkle Saat und jetzt sind wir langsam auf der Zielgraden. Ende des Jahres wollte ich mit zwei neuen Kampagnen starten. Eine davon soll mit #PbtA Unterbau sein. Ich bin mir aber echt noch nicht sicher, wäre meine erste längere Kampagne und bin zwischen einer harmlosen #KULT Runde oder einer schärferen #MythosWorld Runde hin und her. Die Spieler sind da ebenfalls uneins 🤔.

Soweit so gut, bin ja gerade am Einrichten und Umschauen hier.

Da werde ich mich mal kurz vorstellen. Ich bin #neuhier, Rollenspieler seit einigen Jahren. Lese aber auch ab und an etwas oder schaue einen Film.

Dabei mag ich alles mit Tentakeln, Blut und ein bisschen Humor.

Meine bevorzugten Rollenspiele sind #Cthulhu bzw #CoC und #PbtA Sachen wie #MythosWorld und #KULT. Meistens leite ich (natürlich :rm_smileblush: )

#OldSchoolDungeonsAndDragons honestly and many post #osr and #nsr games, #dnd heartbreakers and hacks in all of their glory (#folkdnd). For me, old school #dnd offers a robust „grammar“ for creating various blends of adventure gaming. I also love the mechanics of #TrophyGoldRPG because they facilitate cooperative storytelling in an astonishing manner. And: much love for #PbtA systems (pl). i see pbta as a „grammar“ for hyperfocused genre emulation

#RPGaDay day 18:
Although I have one played one game and GMed another, I've read enough of it to go with #PbtA for today's question.
The refinement of the relatively simple mechanics in lots of the variants and the way it helps transport the different genres' flavours is just great.
Also, the sheer amount of variants that have already appeared and their broad spectrum is just fascinating - especially when I hear that most of them really work great in what they try to accomplish.

Tja. Das kann ich eigentlich gar nicht beantworten. Es gibt viele RPGs die oft ein paar smarte/intelligente Regeln oder Ansätze enthalten. Alles zusammen wären dann wahrscheinlich das smarteste RPG ever.

I haven't played many representatives yet, so I'll stay with the family as a whole.
I think "smart" is just the right term for it. Reminds me of Apple: it didn't really invent the concepts, but it evolved and combined them to create something refined and unique. And, very much unlike Apple, everything openly shared with the community, it keeps on growing and fanning out into very special themes (often carrying their respective vibes perfectly).

Die deutsche Ausgabe von #CityofMist (#CoM) war ein (Voll-)Flop, ansonsten wäre das Rollenspiel nicht eingestellt worden. Das Crowdfunding für die natürlich "viel bessere Übersetzung" (#LOL) tümpelt so vor sich hin. Was soll das werden, selbst wenn es auf den letzten Metern finanziert wird. Danach wird es wieder wie Blei im Regal liegen, selbst wenn die (Neu-)Übersetzung kommt. Und dann...?

Ich bin raus, aber so was von. Viel Erfolg und enjoy.

#CityOfMist lacht mich auch sehr an, es ist in Regelkern (#PbtA) und Setting (#UrbanFantasy) genau das, was mich im Rollenspiel am Meisten reizen würde. Gerade auch durch den etwas Noir-lastigeren Fokus. Und dann auch noch auf Deutsch (für mich nicht so wichtig, aber ich hatte schon zu oft Mitspielende, die sich sonst schwer tun) und mit einem absehbarem Liefertermin (beides im Gegensatz zum thematisch verwandten #UrbanShadows2e ).
