I use #Peopleverse as a concept/vision (not a name) to indicate the state where our offline and online worlds seamlessly integrate and are enriching to our daily lives.

In this, the name of the online space stays Fediverse, but is more technical. Same as "internet" is. Peopleverse is inherently human and social.

It is also not "the" Peopleverse, but "a" Peopleverse. It is diverse, there isn't but one. It can be personal. Emerging on the Fediverse.

May consider adopting the term

In your modular #ActivityPub idea that @liaizon quoted, everyone can 'brand' their service with whatever names they want. There's no need for awkward *Fed or Fedi* postfixes / suffixes.

And those composing modular services into social experiences can do the same.

The Fediverse is then "the stratum" that enables all that, and that may just place this rather technical sounding and hard to explain concept in the proper place.

With corporate entries to #Fediverse for some time and #Meta soon entering the fray, there are calls for #Marketing efforts to defend against that.

Now marketing is a no-no word in fedi land, and rightfully so. It stands for hyper #capitalist #enshittification. Though intention is good and there are strategies and tools in there to help make fedi stronger.

In reaction to the "Godfather of AI" resigning from Google to warn about the dangers ahead, some thoughts of how "personal social networking" on the #Fediverse, supporting genuine and intimate human connection between people online, will become increasingly valuable as #AI generated #misinformation will start flooding the web.

The #Culture that has matured over years of slow growth and which we continue to foster together is very important. Here we have a #Peopleverse.

Moving in the direction of a more task & service oriented fedi. A paradigm of #AppFreeComputing as Chris Gebhardt of infocentral.org coined it. Beyond app-silo's. But that's just the technical side.

Overall we might #ReimagineSocial and get rid of the shallow notion of #social which corporate #SocialMedia engagement platforms have hammered into us. Then we get to a #Peopleverse.

I like to refer to the Fediverse and consider it this suite of different standards that lead to decentralized social networking. ActivityPub being just one of them.

Good protocols are a requirement, but when looking at the potential they bring we have to look beyond the pure technical layers. The average person doesn't care about them either and only thinks "What does this offer to me?"

I imagine the Fediverse (technical) as spanning up a #Peopleverse (social).

I would even say to those people: Leave your notion of "clout" as useful terminology. It is not fitting for the #Fediverse. It is personal social networking we are involved in mostly, more human-scale and thus we'll be part of a #Peopleverse.

"Clout" and "influencer" are only indicators of the warped reality of corporate #SocialMedia. In real life it is maybe religious fanatics and politicians that do "influencing".

Talking to the baker or entering a bar, its meaningless.

I've been using same term of "broadcasting". I make distinction between #SocialMedia (media broadcasting) and #SocialNetworking (what humans do for ages and now increasingly online too).

Agree much on scale, and am using the terminology of "personal social networking", where it is about tailoring your social graph to fit daily life in most appropriate ways.

Where our "social fabric" properly supports our day-to-day activities I call this a #Peopleverse

I'd go further and say that social networking is what we do at the neighbor's party, the bar, the school reunion and the friendly talk with the local shop owner. We do it for 1,000's of years.

With the internet we can do it with people at a distance, bringing them closer.

We may model our online social networks so they match and enrich our natural patterns and human life. Social networks are personal, each their own social graph with people, groups, communities. A #Peopleverse.

So many misconceptions by how #Fediverse is mentioned in the media as Mastodon.

I saw another person tooting their Aha Erlebnis with an "Ooh, I see. #Mastodon isn't an app. It is a #SocialNetwork on the Fediverse. And #Pleroma is another social network".

Noooo, folks. We have one united social network here. It could be a tight-knit "social fabric" where many app types interoperate and app boundaries disappear. We could have #AppFreeComputing. We might have a #Peopleverse.

As the year is coming to an end I feel like this episode could be interesting to listen to when you think about #Peopleverse, #Fediverse, #Moderation and a lot of other subjects.

I realise I feel lonelier now on #Mastodon than when I was on #Telegram, despite there being more people.

I'm thinking of using the #Fediverse less.

I notice that I have not been talking to my friends. I realise I socialise best in a 1 to 1 environment, eg a chat app, #Matrix. Or small friend groups.

The 1-to-many style of communication here doesn't seem very conducive to that.

Okay... so if chatting apps are better for #peopleverse style socialising (and it's better for privacy too), what's the point of non-chat apps?

The #Fediverse based on its open #SocialNetworking standards can be this multi-purpose decentralized networking environment, that supports us in our daily lives. A #peopleverse.

The interoperability and integrations that are possible give potential to finally go beyond apps into #AppFreeComputing.

I imagine functionality to be part of fedi, where I send an interesting discussion to e.g. a Knowledge Garden, where I tend to the information that is relevant to my interests.
