We usually start with the cat, and end with her freed from him (I believe with an exception or two where it just gets worse). Tho, he was not explicitly pointed out as one. And, as a cartoon, his predatory behavior was played up for cute laughs. Lessening the harms it causes.
In modern times, Pepe was -always- going to be reformatted some how. Tho there maybe something to a pickup artist whose behavior is worse than his smell.
