January is the perfect time to pour over garden catalogs and get spring planting ideas sorted out. After I design and install a perennial garden, I prepare laminated botanical charts for the client with pictures on the front of the new plants, and on the back, the names and a brief discussion on how to take care of each one. This gives the client the confidence to manage the new garden.
