Delighted to encounter this Singaporoidea meneptolemus, a Stick Insect (order Phasmida) while walking at MacRitchie Reservoir on 18 April 2023. Stick insects are, of course, a master of disguise and are usually hard to spot among all the foliage.

last summer, in spain — i am not sure but it might have been a phasmatodean (gespenstschrecke). correct me if i am wrong, please! nearly perfect camouflage in the lavender bushes. #InverteFest #spectra #Phasmida #Phasmatodea. i have seen them rarely, so once again just mobile phone snapshost with many deficiencies.

A Stick Insect, maybe Cryptophyllium chrisangi, spotted at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Singapore, on 9 August 2022. Feels great to celebrate Singapore's National Day with a wonderful spotting of a seldom seen insect. 🙂 The second shot shows how flat it is, so it really looks like a leaf.

A Stick Insect (order Phasmida) spotted at Upper Seletar Reservoir Park, Singapore, on 16 May 2021. I was lucky to spot it: I was looking at a butterfly perched on a lower leaf which took off. My eyes followed it upwards briefly, and then settled on the stick insect, quietly standing there hoping I wouldn't see it. 🙂
