Planning on a UPS for my #homelab after the "blurp" event (https://noc.social/@suquamish/110778693148530766).

Primary NAS (refurb Intel server): 400W peak
Secondary NAS (another refurb): 300W peak
Entire 10 node nomad cluster on various ARM SBCs: <100W peak

I know that's a shallow view, but it's still striking to me given that the #HashiCorpNomad cluster is a daily driver for me: hosting everything from #PiHole (of course) to #PhotoPrism to #Postgresql to #Prometheus

(whew! 😅 managed the alliteration)

#photoprism fixes one half of the problem: once I moved photos off of the camera (phone or real), it's accessible from my phone easily and reasonably. the other half can be automated, thanks to #syncthing and #gitannex, so i'm less worried about it. really, i think i fixed this, modulo wtf is going on inside that #photoprism container

so #nextcloud #fail, now testing #photoprism... lots of buzzwords in there, turned off as much stuff as I could (particularly the AI stuff), and it's now importing thousands of photos. https://www.photoprism.app/

but the killer #nextcloud #wtf is that it spends all this time indexing those photos but doesn't actually parse EXIF data: all photos are dated from the import date, not the shoot date (!!) "Nextcloud does not read photo metadata" according to https://rayagainstthemachine.net/linux%20administration/nextcloud-photos/ unbelievable i guess next up is #photoprism

Als ich von Google Fotos weg bin, hab ich auch zuerst alle Bilder in die Nextcloud geladen. Aber die Galerien in Nextcloud sind echt unterirdisch. Bin jetzt bei #Photoprism und glücklich.

#Photoprism ist schon ein cooles Stück Software. Es beschäftigt meinen Heimserver zwar schon seit mehr als 12 Stunden, und ein Ende ist nicht in Sicht, aber diese Kartenübersicht habe ich in Google Fotos nicht so schnell gefunden, falls es sie überhaupt gibt.

Like some other parents, I've given my daughter an old phone of mine and locked it down to a few apps and a camera that syncs with my #photoprism server.

Today saw 152 new photos from the Big Lots toy aisle. She's uploading her Christmas list.
