Personally I just tend to install @ubuntu / #UbuntuLTS on most systems as it's a #64bit distro (#RaspberryPiOS is only available for #ARM, #ARM64 & #i386) and comes with support for basically everything anyone ever asked for - including #Steam.
@bunsenlabs is my go-to distro to use on #lowend systems.

I have a hp T620 in use for that purpose and it's fine.
I shoved in a cheap M.2 and connected a spare drive via USB 3.0 and now it does backups and archival duty for less than a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi4B4GB or #Pi400 would've cost me #MSRP!
It's also fanless and barely sips 10W when under full blast as 80% of the case is just a giant-ass heatsink that is bigger than a flattened-out Noctua NH-D15!

The only winning move is to refuse to buy a @Raspberry_Pi above #MSRP!
Not that the #Greedflation hasn't impacted those as well.
The only #RaspberryPi that was constantly available was the #Pi400 and that jumped from €99 in 2021 to €130 in 2023 for the Kit and €75 to €100 for the bare unit.

Wohingegen alle #CM4 und alle #Pi4B8GB quasi nicht verfügbar sind...
Leider kotzt die Konkurrenz nur halbgares Zeugs aus das zwar aufm Papier besser ist, aber weder brauchbare #Dokumentation noch gute #Software & -#Support hat!

@Toasterson *nodds in agreement* also it's not if one can just copy & paste the code done by @marcan & @lina et.al. from @AsahiLinux - not just due to #licensing but because #Linux and #OpenSolaris / #illumos ain't even binary compatible beyond the minor #POSIX compatibility of userland tools that Linux still has.
I guess only @Raspberry_Pi's documentation makes a #Pi400-Port feasible longterm.
