I built #PicPlanner on my #Librem5 yesterday to test some design tweaks directly on the phone. The first flatpak build process takes quite some time on the Librem5 but the second time it is much faster.
Having the possibility to test directly on the phone is much better now then just guessing on a laptop how it will probably feel on a phone.
Hopefully I can fix some bucks faster now. Especially the slow touch input.
Example use case for #PicPlanner.
During a trip in #Croatia we have been to a restaurant near the Mediterranean sea. Shortly before we went to this restaurant, I checked with my app where a good photo spot could be. A small bay seemed promising and I saw that the #Moon is not showing up which means the #MilkyWay will be clearly visible at around 22:25. So I took my camera with me, left the restaurant at 22:10, went to this place and took this picture.
Edited with #Rawtherapee on #Debian.

#PicPlanner version 0.4.0 is out π
The experience on touch screens should be much better now! Furthermore, most of the settings you make in the app are now saved and not reset anymore after restarting the app.
Check it out and tell me what you tink or what you are missing. My Flathub account is also verified now:

#PicPlanner news:
Version 0.4.0 coming soon!
I finally fixed a nasty bug on touch screen devices where zooming and moving the map was lagging. It took me weeks to figure this one out. In the meantime I removed quite a bit of unnecessary code.
I will probably build the flatpak this weekend.
After reading all these comments about the #SteamDeck here on #Mastodon I finally decided to buy one too. I haven't played games since 2015 and I only start again because I am able to do it on #Linux with support for #Flatpak.
Which also means the Steam Deck is #PicPlanner approved! π
Switch to desktop mode, start the KDE store, search for PicPlanner, press install.
I would have never guessed to see PicPlanner on a gaming console π

On my #PinePhone with #Mobian #PicPlanner through #Flathub is not registered as a mobile friendly app. I guess this is a metadata issue? It looks fine https://flathub.org/apps/details/de.zwarf.picplanner is not

#PicPlanner version 0.3.2 is now on Flathub π
It comes with the new #libadwaita AboutDialog style and I switched to the #Gnome 43 runtime.
Furthermore, I switched to libsoup-3 and made some code cleanup and improvements.

#PicPlanner version 0.3.0 is on Flathub! πβΊ
My last main goal on my to-do list is also checked. PicPlanner can now find the users location with GPS by clicking the location button.
Furthermore, I added German as language. If you want to have PicPlanner in your preferred language just write me or translate the language file if you know how.
My next plan is to improve the search functionality. Especially because the code of this part is pretty ugly π

#PicPlanner: Automatic location detection is coming soon!
Today I received a latitude and longitude value from my laptop for the first time ππ The screenshot shows that PicPlanner is detected as an application that can access location information.
I will release version 0.3.0 as soon as this feature is working without bugs and as soon as I figured out why I can't reliably build my app anymore. Every now and then my build fails and I don't know why π€
#PicPlanner news:
I included atmospheric corrections into my calculations which makes the results of sunrise and sunset more accurate.
Today I started to look into the details how to receive the users GPS location with GeoClue.
This is the last main point of my original plan what the app should have as basic functionality!
I never thought that I will be that fast π
Looking for people to translate #PicPlanner
My application supports languages now.
If you speak any language besides English or German it would be cool if you could help by translating PicPlanner.
If you would like to help but don't know how it works just write me. I can explain it to you.

#PicPlanner was downloaded over 300 times from Flathub βΊπ
Yesterday I started with adding language support. PicPlanner will therefore be available in English and German soon.

#PicPlanner version 0.2.0 is now on #Flathub π
The update is mainly an update of the user interface. The app should now scale better on Linux phones. Furthermore, I made the look more consistent through the whole program.
#PicPlanner:
Version 0.2.0 is on it's way.
I made a few changes to the UI.
It is possible to change date and time from every view now.
Furthermore, the UI is much better scalable now. So all Linux smartphone users should have no problems anymore with these fixes.
I also fixed some other strange UI behavior.
I will make some more tests and then I will make my second Flatpak release.

2016: I installed #Linux for the first time
2018: #RawTherapee replaces #Lightroom and Linux is from now on my only OS
2019: My #Android phone is now #Google free. In August I ordered a #Librem5
2020: I decide to write my own photography planning app because this is the only Android app I use where no Linux alternative exists
2021: #GTK4 is released and I started with the development of the current app
2022: #PicPlanner Version 0.1.0 is released on #Flathub π₯³

Maybe PicPlanner will be on Flathub soon! Finally after some changes and a lot of reading the test builds on Flathub were finally successful! π₯³
Now I have to wait and see if it will be in the store soon π€

#PicPlanner News:
I am now finally planing the fist release of my #linux application.
I think I have added now every functionality which in my opinion a first release should at least have to be useful as a planing app for photographers. Until the release I won't add any new functionality I will only fix some bugs and do some code cleanup.
Here some screenshots which information PicPlanner can now present (more will be added in the future π)

I just pushed the 150th commit to #PicPlanner ππ
It is now possible so select in the settings whether one wants to set the time zone manually or if it should be chosen automatically.
Furthermore, the preferences dialog looks now much more user friendly. Not perfect but better. π
#PicPlanner #gtk #gtk4 #libadwaita #programming #gnome #photography
Thanks to @Suzie97@mastodon.social drawing skills #PicPlanner has now four different symbols for the moon, one for every moon phase. Therefore, one can now immediately see the moon phase just by looking at the moon icon on the map.
#PicPlanner has a new feature!
Just a small one but for me an important one.
It is now possible to calculate the illumination intensity of the moon or in other words how much of the moon surface is bright and how much is dark.
Could you think of any other feature which would be interesting for you?
