The book 'Dandelion' by Don Freeman has a pretty terrible moral.

Dude went out & got his hair done, nails done, got a fresh new outfit, & even brought his friend flowers & his friends were like 'we don't even know you', close the door in his face. Then he gets stuck in the rain. Only after he's been drenched they are like hey there you are, we've been waiting forever for you, oh btw there was this goofy ass lion here earlier.
