There's some #SocialMedia that never jived with me. #LinkedIn, for example. I deleted it years ago. I dabbled with #Tumblr and #Reddit, but never got hooked. They didn't last long. #Facebook was the big one. I kicked it to the curb almost three years ago. I liked #Twitter to a degree, but I shut it down last year. I got rid of Instagram the other day. Not sure why I joined. Today, it was my dormant #Pinterest account. All that's left now is #Mastodon. I'm all #Fediverse all the time now, baby.

Possibly a silly question, but does anyone know if there is a fediverse equivalent/answer to Pinterest? I have a lot of issues with Pinterest itself, but I do find it useful for collecting idea/mood boards etc. So I'm wondering if there is an alternative beyond going back to just saving images to my hard drive. #Fediverse #Pinterest

I had a #Pinterest account? I totally forgot I even had a Pinterest account. (I deleted it.)

As of today, there no longer seems to be a field for Alt Text on Pinterest when uploading new pins. I tested after posting just now and there doesn't seem to be a a way to go back in and edit to add alt text after a Pin has posted, either.

This is a huge leap forward for accessibility. I'm angry and frustrated right now.

I want to add that this is not my favourite cover for this book: it's the original cover, it's more than a little dated, it's not aligned with current romance cover trends & it's not to my personal visual taste.

But it's the cover that consistently performs the best on Pinterest.

The moral to that story is:
- It's not about me, it's about the buying public.
- Give the people what they want.
- Experiment to figure out what the hell that is. 😂

Friends, I need to brag for a moment (which I will not do often) but I posted a tiny vieo clip for one of my romance audiobooks to Pinterest tonight, and in little over an hour it's had more traffic than my whole account used to get in an entire month.

It remains to be seen if traffic converts to sales but I might be on my way to bridging the sales gap left by Twitter, which would be a small miracle.

I've finally stumbled across the writers who have big followings on Pinterest and... it's kind of heartbreaking.

They all post shiny graphics (obviously) that link to blog posts like:
- 3 Tips To Find Your Writing Motivation!
- How To Think Positive When You're In a Slump!
- 12 Sexy Words for Sexy Sex Scenes

It's... soul killing. It's vapid nonsense. There's no VALUE. It's the human equivalent of ChatGPT.

This is so not my scene, not my style, not my vibe.

I couldn’t sleep so I decided to pin stuff to Pinterest as inspiration for my book and home. I decided to use my phone for once and good grief, the IOS app is practically useless.

Of every four images, two are ads! Then when you tap an image that isn’t an ad? Ha! Ads appear as dots covering the image you just want to look at.

I guess I will stick to using it in my laptop browser only.

It’s such a pity, #pinterest was so nice, once.
