Die deutsche Luftwaffe verlegt zu zwei Großmanövern und mehreren kleineren Kriegsübungen 13 Militärflugzeuge für knapp zwei Monate in die Asien-Pazifik-Region. Bei der Maßnahme (Rapid Pacific 2022), die am Montag gestartet wurde, handelt es sich laut Luftwaffeninspekteur Ingo Gerhartz um „mit Abstand die größte Verlegung seit Bestehen der Luftwaffe“. Die deutschen Militärjets beteiligen sich zunächst an den australischen Großmanövern Pitch Black (Luftwaffe) sowie Exercise Kakadu (Marine), bevor sie zu weiteren Übungen bzw. Militärbesuchen nach #Singapur, #Japan und #Südkorea aufbrechen. Laut Gerhartz kann die Maßnahme durchaus als „Machtdemonstration“ („Show of Force“) eingestuft werden. Sie setzt die Asien-Pazifik-Fahrt der Fregatte Bayern (August 2021 bis Februar 2022) fort, der 2023 eine nächste #Marine|entsendung folgen soll. Im Gespräch ist eine Durchfahrt durch die #Taiwan|straße, die das Potenzial hätte, den Konflikt mit #China eskalieren zu lassen.
