It’s surprising that there aren’t more fur-covered Simian-looking aliens on #StarTrek and in other #SciFi (outside of #PlanetOfTheApes).
If we were to encounter lots of humanoid, bipedal, language-using aliens, why wouldn’t some of them look like one of our #Hominina forebears?

Sci-Fi 5: Battle For The Planet Of The Apes – June 15, 1973
As it wrapped up the original five-film cycle that initiated the #PlanetOfTheApes franchise, today's Sci-Fi 5 may prove that one of Battle For The Planet Of The Ape's biggest surprises may have been who was underneath some of the ape makeup. https://sci-fi-5.libsyn.com/battle-for-the-planet-of-the-apes-june-15-1973
2023 has decided to go #PlanetOfTheApes, and I wish I could say it was a shock.

I was just pondering Planet of the Apes, and alternative storylines that would involve more common laboratory animals rather than apes.
Mice and rats make up 95% of the world's lab animals, apparently.
Then there are hamsters and rabbits.
Planet of the Rats would be worth filming, imo. They're intelligent social networkers, they learn, they have vices, could be some interesting plot twists there.

Today it was the turn for 'Planet of the apes'. First the one from 1968, then the 2001 by #TimBurton
I agree with the quote from the #Wikipedia article form the second one: "Ten years from now, it will be the 1968 version that people are still renting."
So true.
1968: 8/10 stars
2001: 3/10 stars

What if the United States failed in the early 20th century and Persia rose? Fascinating short SciFi story from a century ago.
Short future history novel from John Ames Mitchell (1845–1918). First published in 1889, it is the fictional journal of Persian admiral Khan-Li, who in the year 2951 rediscovers North America by sailing across the Atlantic.

I just released an episode of the #YVRScreenScenePodcast featuring actress #KarinKonoval. Karin portrayed Chucky and Judy Poundstone on #TheXFiles, AND Maurice in three #PlanetOfTheApes films. Karin is also a writer, and she came on the pod to speak with me about her latest book, #OnConstance, which is about her journey to, and then through, #NewOrleans in 2013. She’s a really cool lady who can make you see magic you wouldn’t otherwise see; spend some time with us today. https://www.yvrscreenscene.com/home/2022/11/9/episode-247-karin-konoval
