I've reviewed Noc Solheim-Davidson's beautiful translation of the Old English Rune Poems, with the addition of the Northumbrian Runes. It's a wonderful translation I highly recommend. Please read my full review on my blog, linked below.

A Poem for Freyja

Your voice so smooth
Pulls me awake
From the depths of dreams
The bottom of a lake

Your golden tears
Restore my second sight
Through the groves of dark bramble
I see Brísingamen’s light

Through that darkness
When stillness holds my name
You guide my vision
Igniting the flame

Magic and power
Your wisdom awakens
A rushing stream
My soul shaken

Drowning my old form
Emerging something new
Shedding this skin
Into what you always knew

Great Lady
In thanks I give
Gifts of honey and amber
A new life to live

I'm an ecologist and having a career in that field has made a huge mark on my polytheist practice. I know pagans tend to be a bit crunchy by nature, but my education and training inform the way I see the world and that includes my religious ideology.

I'm not living in ancient or even modern Iceland, or Sweden, or Poland, or Scotland. I tend to focus on local plant and animal life and how they tie into my views on gods related to fertility, the land, and the seasons. Bird migrations inform my shifts in seasonal practice. I see Freyja in my local red-tailed hawks. Óðinn in the common ravens on campus. I know when to expect thunder storms and give to þórr ahead of time, while giving to Freyr during the milder rainy season. When crocus bulbs begin to pop up they tell me we're entering Spring and to thank Mokosz. An Cailleach blows in with the first frost.

One of course doesn't need to be a scientist to be keyed in like this, I know plenty of pagans who are not and are just as keyed in. For me though it's second nature, no pun intended. Having a localized practice brings me closer to the gods in a way that makes sense to me. It also informs how I interact with the land wights, making sure to leave offerings safe for local plants and animals when outdoors. It's brought me into the flow of life around me and I'm at grateful for it.

I am obviously not one... but I fucking LOVE Norse Pagans!!

Every single one I've met teaches me new things, and I love their Gods, their practices, all of it! Pagans really know how to dive headfirst and swim through their path of choice, and I'm always so astounded by their entire adopted culture.. Ironically I feel the same away about those who follow the Gods because those were the first I had ever heard of when it came to a religion

Even though happens to be my chosen path it doesn't mean I can't show a deep appreciation for others' paths!

I grew up obsessed with the Gods, but in truth, I was obsessed with all religions given that Christianity was actively shoved down my throat so hard I have now reached a point as an adult where I can not take a single Christian seriously

Aside from being I've only ever identified as an and eventually as a but... I truly believe the Gods only answer to those who believe in them, and the awakening of the poly Gods is due to the new rise in belief, offerings, and in devotion to them. These once dormant Elder Gods had been waiting to rise again and with the New Age they are finally being called upon once again, and I believe WE can truly turn things around in society and in life in general! :PaganPlus: It's our time now!!

How we belief in gods and shape our worldview depends on the deeper understanding on the term god, in the traditions alike the traditions. God.dess can be understood in various ways, for example:

One thing the decentralised world of and has me thinking about is , a concept I learned about from modern Neoplatonist Philosopher Edward Butler, although that was in the area of Theology.
Obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but the idea that there is no one centre, that every instance is the centre is similar on the surface to every God is the centre.
