The thing is - #populists are terrible at running things well - all they do to stay in power is remove the means for alternatives to stand against them - and a local mayor cannot act like Putin, Erdoğan or Orbán and punish anyone for opposition

So #Derby will be free of him once the electorate realise their error

I beleive they'll do more than try - part the reason #starmer is so shy about policy on #EU & traditional #left causes is the burning urgency to clean up #politics - now terribly soiled by the entire post-2016 era, by #bigDog in particular - we cannot rely on a #decentChaps assumption when the #kipperTories are so obviously a nasty, dirty bunch of #populists appealing to the worst instincts at the more debased end of the electorate
