Well, I lucked out! I’d ordered the primer and got the complete grammar! Shall reconcile this with #Powells of course.

@benjaminhollon @badrihippo that’s a great idea. I often buy hard copy in anticipation but when disappointed struggle to put them on the shelf. At least #Powells bookstore buys used books - one way to recycle those that disappointed. Maybe read first then buy :blobcatshrug:

I was super excited to be signing my books at #Powells Books for the 'What I'm Giving' holiday display they're going to be part of (!!!!!!), but then my kid pointed out that this is a task that is much easier for right-handed people than it is for me...

You can get it too! The book is Shifting Currents: A World History of Swimming (Reaktion 2022), and it shows how poorly most Europeans have always swum compared to other people around the world. Europeans have used that fact to make swimming into an in-group marker: only rich, educated Europeans learned to swim. That, in turn, has forced most of the better swimmers out of the water, and even convinced many people that Black people physically can't swim.

Well, I got my nephew's book directly from it's publisher instead of from #Powells.

Honestly, though, a *lot* of bookstores carry that title and if I'd gone to any other online shop, I'm sure they'd also have "Unmasked". What they /wouldn't/ have is liberal bullshit about how advocating for my death is some kind of moral good, actually.

I cannot abide by liberal bullshit. If you're going to do something evil because of contractual obligations, then just do it without pretending it's virtuous. We all make compromises and it's really adding quite a lot of insult to injury by refusing to acknowledge them as such.
