#RPGaDAY2023 Day 13: As I mostly sit on the GM's chair, I hardly ever experience a PC's demise. However, there's this game I played a few months ago, #EscapeFromDinoIsland. I played Yohannsen Krüzoe, a Survivor who died crushed by a dinosaur falling on him before lava flooded the place, but he did manage to save the love of his life, Marie-Jacqueline, a golf ball with a stick woman face drawn on it. Has anyone got a proper heroic fantasy #TTRPG that they'd recommend?

My current group isn't big on dungeon crawling and I'd love to find a fantasy tabletop game built around high-fantasy heroics ala Lord of the Rings.

We've played #DnD 5e and #Pathfinder, and tried some #PoweredByTheApocalypse systems. We have a DM that likes Pathfinder, but I personally find it bloated. We've also got an autistic player that struggles with ambiguity, so the crunchier the system the better.

@LeviKornelsen I've been an RPG nerd since I discovered #RIFTS back in the 90s, but it's the other games of the era that are my true loves: #VampireTheMasquerade, the #WorldOfDarkness in general, #Kult, #Shadowrun, #UnknownArmies, #BluePlanet, #DeltaGreen, #LegendOfThe5Rings, but I’ve also fallen in love with #PoweredByTheApocalypse stuff and #BladesInTheDark. Always happy to talk about any of those.

By day, I'm the Director of Events at #GenCon, so also always happy to chat about conventions.

I was in a game of @typothermya's In Her Footsteps RPG last night and it was absolutely wonderful -- incredible, magical vistas perfectly balanced with well-meaning but imperfect characters. Christie has done such a great job of expressing magic that's bigger than anyone can know.

Reading Apocalypse World free basic handbook and so far I only have half an idea of what this book is talking about.
Unlike Cyberpunk where they keep the slang only to the story, this one uses slang when explaining and describing character type.

@Yora @Fnord yea sure. That’s something I really like about #PoweredByTheApocalypse games. The players get a couple pieces of paper which list all the things which they can do. I like that support for onboarding new players.

@gbsteve @Nenad if you wanted a #PoweredByTheApocalypse VtM, I can recommend Urban Shadows from Magpie Games.

If you want a more recent dungeon crawl kind of thing, Numenera is a fun, weird fantastic setting on the Cypher engine. Not as much flexibility as PbtA, but not rigid.

@Glupinickname On the other hand, #PoweredByTheApocalypse (with whom I have no relationship other than as a fan) has me hooked. It's an amazing game, with absolutely my favorite character advancement system.
