Ruby Princess (a ship we're due to sail on later in the year) has managed to take some damage after hitting the docks at Pier 27 in San Francisco (which is where we'll be sailing from) and what we'd really like Princess to do is this: fix it, fix it now, thank you very much please.

This is the event that turns pollywogs (those who haven't crossed the equator) into shellbacks, and it involves a lot of mess and some kissing of fish. King Neptune is involved too and it's all a great bit of fun.

There is a #SchiffsSamstag hashtag apparently, and I am rather fond of #ships so should be able to partake in this most weeks that I remember.

This is #PrincessCruises #StarPrincess at anchor off #PuntaArenas in #Chile back in 2016. That's an old #pier with #cormorants on it, and not #penguins as one American #cruise passenger thought. You'd think the flying bit would give that away.

Ah yes, the politics of visiting places and running into problems with other places.

We are destination-based cruisers, and we know the type of #cruise line we want (i.e. few kids, not super luxury) so then it's a case of checking prices and dates. While we're not exclusively loyal to any line, we've found that #PrincessCruises do tend to suit us well. That said, those four cruises for 2023 are on - in order - P&O, Holland America, Celebrity, and finally Princess.
