For context: I've seen #principals of #GrammarScools being yeet'ed out of office amidst their attempt to silence the #StudentNewspaper and infringe upon it's #FreedomOfPress.

Because #Journalism and #PressFreedom also applies to #minors uncovering the misappropriation of school funds.

Over 23 years of #teacher observation and support, I have learned to view #curriculum as something that good teachers explore and discover rather than something that they "cover."

There’s a big difference.

#Principals: throw a tarp over that stack of teacher editions and say, “We’ve 'covered' your curriculum for the year, now teach your kids.”

Your #school #culture is made up of every single interaction that happens (or doesn't happen) between people throughout the day.

Your school #climate is made up of how people feel about those interactions (or lack of them).

Your words have Weight, they can bring people down.
Your words have Height, they can lift people up.
Most importantly:
Your words have Length, they last a lifetime!

Be #kind #thoughtful #intentional and #present.

Come talk to me.
Work with me on this.
I want to hear your side.
I’m not mad at you.
Tell me what happened?
How can I help you right now?
How can we fix this together?
What do you need?
Want to just sit there for a bit until you're ready?

Kids act out for all kinds of reasons. Often having nothing to do with you. It's not personal. Be professional.

Trying to rebuild my tribe of great practicing #Teachers #Principals, #Edchat thinkers and sharers on #EduTooter #Education #Teacher. #Edutwitter was such a great resource for free PD and sharing of ideas and resources for 10 years before it started to devolve into a clout-chasing marketplace. If it crashes, I'm going to miss interacting with great #Educators , but I won't miss all of the people who don't work in schools or someone forever trying to sell me yet another book.
