28Dec1821 Champion of England Tom CRIBB is arrested on a ‘peace warrant’ after allegedly threatening to throw the proprietor of the Tennis Courts, Mr S.W. HUNT under a wagon & give his son a punch in the mouth. CRIBB was discharged after HUNT was unable to prove his claim.

In 1831 the () Tennis Courts were converted into an Amphitheatre for Cooke’s Equestrian . In c1851 it became the Rooms then the Music Hall (1882) & after the creation of Shaftesbury Ave (1886) it became a restaurant. Now it’s the Picturehouse Central cinema.
