Maybe so but MRIs are very expensive and, unless Medicare & other medical insurance programs will pay for them, the use of MRIs to routinely screen for prostate cancer is extremely unlikely.

The method used currently is to detect for prostate cancer does NOT rely exclusively on PSA testing.

If a man's PSA rises in a concerning manner, a biopsy is taken which is the best proof of the presence or absence of cancer (of any type). And, I'm certain that a biopsy would still be required to prove the presence of cancer even after MRI screening.

My prostate cancer was discovered after a high PSA test result and a biopsy which gave me the time to decide whether or not to treat it. I chose an advanced method of radiation treatment and I've been cancer free for the 13 years since it was 1st discovered w/o any negative side effects directly associated with the treatment.

#ProstateCancer is in the news again. MY dear friend John had it, it wasn't diagnosed till after it metastasised and he died in his fifties. I have it too, but it was spotted nice & early and at the moment I don't need any treatment at all.

The message is: make sure you get checked. Be a nuisance if you have to, especially if you have back pain and/or wee too often.

I Went to see my oncologist yesterday.
My #PSA has dropped to " insignificant " Which is nice to hear.
It has been very low before, then inexplicably risen from time to time.
I have had #ProstateCancer for close to 9 years.
They say, if you have a prostate, there is a 1 in 8 chance of developing prostate cancer. 1 in 3, have no symptoms.
Please get a PSA blood test .
I am one of the lucky ones, mine was diagnosed.
