My #protectli #fw4c is #coreboot enabled now. I've used an #ubuntu #liveusb and flashed their image following the instructions at https://github.com/protectli-root/protectli-firmware-updater. The boot from my usb flashdrive took longer than the flashing. It automatically found the proper image to flash. Protectli gear is good gear.

I'm about to install #coreboot on my #protectli #fw4c. Any known hiccups or recommendations? I'm planning to use a #ubuntu #livecd and flash it from there. 🤔

Glad having my #pihole and #unbound on a rock-solid rig now. I was concerned about the performance but my #protectli #vault runs like a #rabbit.

I was considering installing #opnsense on a software raid in my #protectli #vault #fw4c. After reading I learned that the #protectli #vault (at least #fw4b and fw4c models) got two #msata ports where one of them is solely for a #wifi module.

Migrating #opnsense to my new #protectli #vault was done in a breeze: set up vault, export #opnsense config from old vault, import to new vault. Interfaces corrected and voila: up and running again. It was done so fast that I migrated my #doker host to the old vault too, I initially wanted to make it on another day but it's also up and running with all my #selfhosting things. Later today I gotta setup a #windows machine. I guess it takes at least four hours instead of one and a half.

Since the #protectli devices are running stable and reliable, I've bought a newer model which will become my #opnsense #firewall rig. The older model will be my new docker host and the current #docker host will be my #monitoring system. Yes, I have always stuff to optimize. :allthethings:

Does anyone have the experience of using #Intel_AX200 or #Intel_AX210 #WiFi card with #FreeBSD in a #Protectli machine ("FW6Br2" in my case)?

(I have used both native & Linux (via "wifibox" port via VM) versions of "iwlwifi" driver with Intel AX210 card in a laptop.)

@parvXm There's a newer model available: #Protectli #Vault Pro VP2410-4 Port. Speaking of the #f4wb, I'm pretty satisfied, the hardware runs without any hiccups so far. I'd buy Protectli #hardware again.

An ethernet port on my WiFi router malfunctioned, so am looking to buy a switch/router.

How is "#Protectli Vault #FW4B" holding up currently? Would you change anything in terms of the hardware?

Finally got round to ordering a #protectli to replace a very power hungry machine I was using for #pfsense it's going to be a good Friday! Odd the things I look forward to!

I have a sneaking suspicion that my #opnsense driven #protectli #vault runs much smoother and more reliable than with #pfsense.

So I've migrated almost everything from #pfsense to #opnsense, the installation procedure differs and the gui took me some time to get used to. The interfaces of my #protectli vault weren't assigned correclty, so there was a bit of manual configuration necessary. Later today I'll tweak the system and add remaining things like traffic shaping and such and add some more #firewall rules. I can't tell how stable it runs yet but I like opnsense way better. Maybe just because I'm biased now? I'm happy

It's running so far and the transition was very smooth with a downtime of about half an hour until everything was cabled and configured. Everything works except the local name resolution which I'm going to tackle today. I want to use my own #unbound setup with #pihole.

We had visitors yesterday, so I couldn't put any more time in it.
