If you're fleeing the South: I live north of Providence, but know it a little.

Place used to be kinda a mess, but upgraded in recent decades.

Random advantages:
— Brown, RISD, PC (good colleges) inject some kulcha (museums etc)
— Climate catastrophe should bring Texas weather up here RSN
— Good food: Italian eats on Federal Hill, gourmet donuts all over RI, actually decent BBQ
— Beaches w/i 30-45 mins (Ocean State, remember)
— Can make faces at Lovecraft's grave
